Joel Martínez

Joel Martínez is a Venezuelan trombonist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, and recording engineer, recognized with multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy awards and nominations. A proud alumnus of El Sistema, Joel was a member of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and the Venezuelan Brass Ensemble, performing in the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Berliner Philharmonie, and BBC Proms.

He has collaborated with legendary artists such as Oscar D’ León, Cheo Feliciano, Andy Montañez, Ismael Miranda, Natalia Lafourcade, and Ricardo Montaner. Joel played a key role in two acclaimed NPR Tiny Desk Concerts with Rawayana (performing his own composition “Merengue pa’ Cintura”) and Nathy Peluso (trombone, bass trumpet, and brass arranger).

Currently based in Miami, Joel performs with the Miami Symphony Orchestra, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the Brazilian big band Gafieira Rio Miami, while remaining active as an educator and masterclass lecturer throughout the Americas.
